Because I'm a total Star Wars fanboi, I did what I ridicule others for doing and went through the trailer frame-by-frame, picking out images that are interesting or curious or telling. Here they are, in trailer order:
1 - Three bugs: on the lava planet, this shows three people riding three big bugs. I'm pretty sure they're not robots. Anakin, Padme, and Obi-wan? I think so because of something we see later.
2 - Battle over Coruscant: one of the ship:ship battles shown, this one obviously over the Imperial city on Coruscant. The Trade Federation is involved, but the big ship in the foreground isn't a Star Destroyer unless it's a type we haven't seen. If I'm not mistaken, that's the direct predecessor to the TIE Fighter in the foreground.
3 - Early TIE: yeah, definitely a TIE predecessor. Check out the cockpit dome. There's also an R2 unit embedded in the right wing, perhaps R2-D2 himself, which would make the pilot most likely Obi-wan. Hmmm.
4 - Early AT-STs on Kashyyk: behind the Wookie army, these curious machines lurk. Looks like Hummers on steroids on the left and three-legged AT-ST type thingies on the right.
5 - Bad guy: obviously. WTF is he? Something fucked up by the Emperor, I'm guessing.
6 - Naboo ship over lava planet: This looks like one of those silvery Naboo specials leaving the lava planet. This is why I think Padme was one of the three bug riders earlier - she's getting outta Dodge after what should be the climactic saber battle here.
7 - Climactic lava planet sabers: Obi-wan and Anakin doing the dance that leads to Vader.
8 - Obi-wan getting run through?: looks to me like he's getting either a fist or a saber in the tummy here, while Anakin has his right hand on Obi-wan's throat. Different fight than on the lava planet, too, unless there's some indoor spaces there. I'm thinking there's going to be two major saber fights between Anakin and Obi-wan, with Anakin kicking his ass in this first one, and Obi-wan winning the second on the lava planet.
9 - X-Wing precursor?: that's what it looks like to me. There appears to be another R2 unit just above the cockpit here as well. Where do X-Wings come from if TIE's are an Imperial ship? The secessionists led by Darth Tyranus/Count Dooku?
There's a bunch of other notable stuff as well - Yoda and his saber in what looks like Palpatine's office on Coruscant, a Wookie wearing the same ammo belt that Chewbacca wears later in the same way so I figure it must be his dad or brother, a weird firefighting ship spraying water on another flaming vessel, Mace Windu apparently fighting Palpatine/the Emperor (the only other red saber we see in the trailer)... You'd think that if Yoda's going to fight anyone, it'd be the Emperor, but I'm hearing that Yoda beheads somebody - Dooku, I'm betting.
May 19th is way too far away now.
