It's called PMS because Mad Cow Disease was already taken.

@868 (12:50pm) Finally, something works.

If you've worked with computers, you recognize the sentiments in that title. I've been beating my head against ISA Server 2004 for two weeks now, with very little success in making it a usable firewall. We've been using ISA 2000 for over a year with no real problems, but had to upgrade because of a couple small issues with client-client VPNs and remote access that are impossible in 2000 but built-in to 2004. Since then I've had no end of trouble - half the shit we had working before doesn't work now, and even following Microsoft's published step-by-step procedures for making those things work hasn't helped. Well, I just made a breakthrough and got some stuff working. Apparently 2004 says that it uses previously-published SSL certificates, but actually doesn't. Dunno if that's a feature or a bug, but it would've sure been nice to know in advance.

The 4th was good. The sparkler bomb this year was about half the size of last year's, only about 700 sparklers, but 'twas still a gas. I have pictures but no video - I'll put those up later today. It sure was great weather.

For my birthday on the 2nd I got Burnout 3: Takedown for the XBox from UranusHertz, and man is that fun. Someone finally realized that the funnest part of most racing games is bashing other cars off the road, and made a whole game about just that. Crash mode is a gift from the gods.

Our vacation is only 10 days away now. I'm slobbering with anticipation. I'm going to take off my shoes as soon as we get there, and I'm not going to do anything that would require me to put them back on again until the day we leave.

Oh, that's another thing about ISA 2004 - I can't get the stupid webcam software out through the firewall anymore. Nothing I try works. It sucks ass.

Saw Mr. & Mrs. Smith the other day. Brad and Angelina are so good looking, after about 30 minutes I forgot about the plot and just stared at them for the next hour. Story? What? Does it even matter?

Got Battle Royale in book form from UHertz in exchange for the movie; haven't started that yet. I've read through the 5 Harry Potter books over the last few weeks in preparation for Half-Blood Prince coming out the day we leave for Hawaii - just about half of the 5th one left to go. I'm hoping to get a copy of the new one to read on the plane, but I'm not hopeful. We have 3 pre-ordered copies to pick up at midnight on the 15th, but those are for Sierra and a couple of her friends, so I'll probably be screwed.

Nice talkin to ya.

Oh, also, I'm picking up our new washer and dryer today. They're the shizzle. We're giving our old ones to sis Denise and her beau Jason, but we're still going to have an extra dryer. Don't ask. It works but is crappy. If you want it let me know; otherwise it's going to the scrap yard.
