Washing one's hands of the conflict between the powerful and the powerless is siding with the powerful, not being neutral.
From the "Horrifying but ultimately funnier than hell" category, we have this 1.4MB WMV film. It's yet another example of how alcohol, teenagers, and fireworks can mix in a really hilarious way. Thanks to, believe it or not, my boss.

Blarg. The auction for my new GPS unit closed Tuesday morning. I emailed the seller for a final quote immediately afterwards, requesting Fedex 2nd-Day Air shipping, so I could get it by Friday. They responded with the price at about 6:30pm Pacific Time. I immediately paid via Paypal. I got an email from them Wednesday morning, saying it had been shipped and including a tracking number. Good good good.
However, it was not until today at 4:08pm Central time that Fedex actually picked up the package, and their page indicates it's shipping via "Standard Ground." Which means I'm screwed for Friday, and probably won't see it until late next week at the earliest.
What am I really going to do about it? Well, nothing probably. I can complain, but it's already shipped and it's not going to get here any sooner. The best that could happen would be a refund of the extra $10 or so I paid for 2nd Day shipping, but that's not enough to warrant spending an hour or two futzing around with it. I can leave negative feedback, but this place has like 3500 feedbacks and a 99.97% positive feedback rating, so there's effectively going to be no consequence to my strongly worded letter. So I'll do nothing and BLOODY LIKE IT.
