I am Homer of Borg. Prepare to be... OOOOOOH, DONUTS!
Through the miracle of free wireless, I'm coming to you today live from room 218 at Harrison Hospital. I have my IV hooked up, and my PCA pump of Dilaudid, and three different cups of water and tea next to me. This is the second time I've been in the hospital since my last post, so I hope you forgive the (usual) long delay. Both visits are for the same symptoms, namely stomach upset, nausea/indigestion, and difficulty swallowing, all treatment-caused problems. Last week I came in for hydration via IV as I was getting dehydrated, and this week I came in for the same thing with the additional issue of not being able to hold any food down. I've been here since Friday and only today remembered to ask my darling Deb to bring my laptop in. She obliged and here we are.
I'm feeling better daily and hope to go home this week sometime; once I can eat at something approaching my normal intake they'll toss me out again. We have a trip planned to Seaside, Oregon this coming weekend, so I bloody well better be out by then.
Not much else is going on. Debbie is heroically trying to keep home life normal for the kids and dog and cats, as well as sleeping here with me on an uncomfortable recliner, and chauffeuring everyone all over creation every day.
In running down all the cool stuff I got for my birthday in my last post, I neglected to mention Sierra's gifts, which were amazing - three books including one from the Dalai Lama and one from Penny Arcade, but also a shirt that she had custom made featuring a quote and picture of His Holiness as well as a big peace sign on the back. So well done...
I am simply speechless, my friends, at your generosity and compassion. We've received updates about the benefit account and amount of donations that have gone into it, as well as news about the Soup fund raiser they had at the courthouse last week, and I'm just flabbergasted by how wonderful you all are. I can find no words sufficient to describe the feeling - you've beggared the language. So thanks.
