Last night was great, wasn't it? I had fun and I hope you did too.
Today is November 5th. Guy Fawkes Day. Remember, remember, the 5th of November, the gunpowder, treason, and plot. Let's take a lesson from this as well - to not let our optimism from the election keep us from doing the things that must be done. Captain Kookabanana still has a couple months to line his pockets and dirty the environment, and make no mistake, he's going to try. We have to try to stop that, which means continuing to bug the shit out of our elected officials concerning issues that matter to us. President Obama now has to manage the transition from candidate to office-holder, and turning that trick is going to be just as hard as getting there in the first place. His first few months in office will signal the tenor of the next four years; what can you do to help? There's lots of things we can all do, wacko liberal and crazy conservative alike; the task is to find the places where your efforts can most efficiently affect the system, and then push on those places with all your heart.
Obama's election tells us that a charismatic leader and 65 million motivated followers can turn our history in a new direction. What really matters is the ability to maintain that new direction in the face of massive forces trying to turn it back. We can do it, but only with bucketloads of commitment and a will that's diamond-strong. That will has to come from us, not from our leader. We can do it. We just need to begin. Today.
Why are the Japanese so much cooler than us? Even though we elected Captain Obama, I still feel jealous and inferior watching this video. post a comment | trackback
