@265 (10:22pm) Home again

Didja miss me? Probably not. I was back in the hospital for the last 30 hours or so - went in yesterday morning in dramatic fashion, had a chemo infusion last night, home again this evening.

First, Debbie made it clear to everyone last week that we were having insurance problems - our new provider denied coverage for a chemo treatment the doc said was necessary on the grounds it was still "experimental." The doc appealed it, and Debbie went into overdrive mode and kicked their ass all by herself. She wrote an amazing appeal, contacted our local Senators and Reps as well as the state insurance commissioner, and also pushed friends and family to do the same. After a couple days the insurance people granted the appeal. Debbie's modest about it but it was an amazing thing to witness. I thought I was the only one she could bully like that.

We were scheduled to go in and have the newly approved treatment yesterday morning, but in trying to get up and going I had a bit of a breathing/panic attack and Debbie was concerned enough by it to call the ambulance. Those hombres showed up, did their thing, I was able to calm down and do OK. They decided to transport me to Harrison anyway as a precautionary measure, so we missed our chemo appointment but ended up in Bremerton anyway 30 minutes later. Several hours in the ER later, it was decided to go ahead and admit me for the night so that they could give me the chemo and also better hydrate me. So I got my room on 2West and got the chemo last night.

Interesting thing - prior to the chemo, as an anti-allergic reaction measure, they gave me IV Benadryl. Kawow, Batman. Talk about hallucinating - for about 20 minutes I was high as a kite, though I was aware enough of it to tell Debbie. She offered to take the laptop from me in case I started sending funny tweets again, but I was aware enough of it that I think I was able to refrain from sending anything really weird. I just looked back and I did twitter about it, but I did OK; here's the first one and here's the followup. Bonus points to the first person who can tell me what PGGB stands for.

My blood tests this morning said I was a little anemic as well, so prior to releasing me they transfused a couple bags of red into me. That always makes me feel a bit better - like getting recharged somehow.

So, home again, about to head up to beddie bye time. Our stupid home internets are dead again - I'm connected via my 3G card and will need to call them tomorrow.

I need to ask a favor of everyone - if I promise to update here more, will you promise not to bug Debbie for status updates? She's got enough on her plate without 100 texts and phone calls and emails every day asking for the latest news. She's doing SO much already; please help lighten her load. Love you guys, thanks.
